Today, in Kim’s thrilling adventure, we set off to explore Hellgate Jetboat Excursions in Grants Pass, Oregon. Named after General Ulysses S. Grant, Grants Pass is a charming city located on Interstate 5, northwest of Medford, nestled along the scenic Rogue River. The city boasts a revitalized downtown with a vibrant historic district and proudly hosts the state’s longest-running outdoor growers and crafts fair. Considered a natural amusement park, Grants Pass offers a plethora of activities, from fishing, rafting, hiking, to cycling the trails. However, today, our focus is on an exhilarating jet boat ride.
Established in 1959, Hellgate Jetboat Excursions has been delighting visitors by guiding them through the historic Hellgate Canyon along the wild and scenic Rogue River. As one of the pioneering jet boat companies in the United States, Hellgate Jet Boat Excursions is a second-generation family business, dedicated to offering a safe and fun way to experience the Rogue River.
Before arriving, we made our reservations conveniently online, and with just a few clicks, we were ready for the adventure. Upon reaching the boats, we were pleasantly surprised to be given front-row seats, providing us with the best view in the house. Our journey began at a leisurely speed, allowing us to soak in the beauty of the Rogue River.
The Rogue River starts its 215-mile journey from a spring on the west side of Crater Lake, eventually reaching the Pacific Ocean. Approximately 85 miles of the river are protected under the Wild and Scenic River Act, a testament to its natural splendor. Once we passed the bridge, the captain revved up the engines, treating us to an exhilarating and thrilling ride. We spent the next 30 minutes capturing fantastic photo opportunities and cherishing the memories created during the ride.
